Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY;[1] born March 17, 1988) is professionally known as Grimes, is a Canadian musician who sings, writes songs, and producer of records. There are many styles of her music from the beginning has been called "lo fi R&B" and "futuristic dance-pop". Her music has added elements from hip hop electronic, rock and hip hop. She often uses science fiction and feminist themes in her songs. Five studio albums were released by her. She was raised and born in Vancouver (later moving to Montreal), Grimes began making music on her own in the late 2000s she released two albums: Geidi Primes and Halfaxa which were released in 2010, via Arbutus Records. The following year, she joined 4AD and became a household name following the release of their third studio album Visions, in 2012. Visions has two singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" which was recognized with"Oblivion" with the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. In the years following, she released her fourth studio album Art Angels, was launched in the year of 2015 and earned reviews of praise, as numerous publications declared it to be the best album of the year. In the year 2020, she released Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Grimes is also a judge for Alter Ego, a music contest. She participated in the role-playing game in the Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
